From the Dao De Jing by Lao Zi chapter 52
The world had a beginning,
This was the mother of the world
When you find the mother,
You know her children.
Once you know her children,
You return and stand with their mother.
All your life, you’re in no danger.
Block your senses, shut the gates,
All your life you won’t worry.
Open your senses, immerse yourself in your affairs,
All your life, you won’t be rescued.
Seeing the small is called insight,
Maintaining the soft is called strength.
Use the light and come back to your insight.
Stay out of trouble and practice your normal routine.
Commentary: Lao Zi describes the place to begin your quest for the Creator is within. Looking without, with all of your senses open, immersed in the affairs of the world, you won’t find the insight. Once you have found “the mother” within, you will be able to recognize her children without. A regular routine of meditation, blocking the senses, shutting the gates, gazing within, one can find the insight that will change the vision of the external world, the practice will unlock the ability to see the Interbeing of the world.
