Water Exploration on the Site
One such fellow that we got to work with was Don Huckfeldt. After driving up and shaking hands he realized that he’d drilled the existing well at the top of the property some 20+ years before.
He shared with me the story of how the previous landowner had given him permission to take a redwood sapling home with him, and how it had grown to be massive and a special part of his homestead. These are the sort of stories that abounded, connecting the tradesmen and professionals to the work done on the site in a heart-felt and meaningful way. While none of the water wells we have on the property are positively gushers, the quality of the water is most-excellent. As water flows downhill, it was no sure thing that we’d find the water needed at the top of the mountain. Fortunately, confirming the water availability meant that we could move forward to further plans for the site. Water availability was the first of the major hurdles that we cleared on the path.
